Anything “Teriyaki” apparently means nothing more than “glossily fried”. Thus: You don’t need any expensive store-bought sauces, special ingredients or anything! The recipe (which seems to be original, since I even asked a born and raised asian person – just to make sure), is really easy, very delicious and done in almost  no-time. Try it! As far as i know it’s the original.

Ingredients (2 servings):

ca. 500g chicken meat
2-3 tbsp. cornstarch
2-3 tbsp. sake
Cooking oil
2 green onions, cut small, diagonally
2 tsp. sesame seeds

Sauce:

3 tbsp. soy sauce
2 tbsp. mirin
2 tbsp. sake
2 tbsp. sugar

Method:

Cut chicken into small, bite size pieces. Coat with starch, a good dash of cooking alcohol, season with salt and pepper and a good dash of cooking oil. Let marinate for about 30 minutes for tenderizing.

Heat oil hot in a skillet, add chicken and pan fry at high heat until browned outside and almost cooked through, about 5 minutes.

Mix sauce ingredients and add to chicken. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.

Serve garnished with green onions and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Add a side of rice.
