They had some wood bbq planks on sale at the hardware store, so of course I had to snatch at the offer. I want to make some flame grilled salmon finnish style (“Loimulohi“) and I’m not willing to spend money on an overpriced plank-holding-contraption. So I had to come up with my own and this here is my shameless copy:
These planks seem to come in two standard sizes, long and short but all the same width, so I tried to make my gadget suitable for both of them (see the measurements above). The principle is very popular, the construction consists of two brackets (to attach to a grill, firebox, “Fassl“, etc.) and a variable-tilt plank holder mounted to these brackets. I’m waiting for less rainy weather now to try them out. It was fairly easy, now they’ll just have to prove sturdy enough.
