Now I found a cheap plastic drum from a marine equipment store on eBay and decided to give it a shot – not much effort and a simple homemade construction. I don’t have any experience with this type of composting, but since I expect to have ample need for compost this summer, the project is worth the time as well as the (little) money to me.

Miso Mushroom Pasta
This is a simple and easy, yet very delicious recipe for pasta with a rich and creamy miso and mushroom sauce. Perfectly suited for one of those busy weekday evenings when you can’t be arsed into elaborate cooking, ’cause it’s done in almost no time.
The text below makes it seem like a lot of work, while in reality it’s a done in an instant. I suppose it’s some sort of “fusion cuisine” 🙂 and it’s very aromatic. Try it yourself!
More Viking Chairs
Several people liked the viking-style chair (→ click here for images and measurements) that I made for a friend of mine, so I had to make some more 🙂 I’m happy about that!
It’s an easy, yet rewarding project. Click the link above to see how to make your own! Also, here’s a link on how to make a matching viking-style table.
Slow Braised Beef Brisket from the Oven
I craved this so much lately that I just couldn’t help it anymore and made it again yesterday. So without much talking around here’s the recipe – it takes time, but it is easy, beginner friendly and entirely rewarding. (The above image was taken just before the final roast.)
Product Review: Bavarian Edge Knife Sharpener
I was looking for an at least semi-professional knife sharpener for the kitchen and stumbled upon “Bavarian Edge” brand and of course, if any, I had to buy this one – just for patriotism 🙂 After several weeks of use and testing I want to finally give my opinion on this one. Please note that I don’t make any money with this.
Homebrew Drain Cleaner
My kitchen sink drained very slowly and not properly anymore (that’s ok after 10 years of ample use). Thanks to the vastness of the internet I came across an easy and convenient manly hint on the topic requiring only household items, so I tried that.
The summary? In my case, this did actually work 🙂 Here’s how:
Wild Broccoli with Oyster Sauce
Here’s wild broccoli or “broccoli rabe”, also known as “italian broccoli” or “Spargelkohl” in germany. This long-stemmed cousin of the well-known normal broccoli is more aromatic and has a more distinct flavor. I cooked it asian-style these days and it was a very delicious yet easy to make dish.
Recommended Read: Author H.P. Lovecraft
I stumbled upon a Kindle complete works edition of H. P. Lovecraft (▸wikipedia: de|en) and can’t stop reading. I read this guy’s novels and stories when I was a teenager and I liked his storytelling and his way of narration very much. IMHO, horror stories like the ones Lovecraft wrote are good because there is no distinct picture of the subject itself – it all relies on the reader’s imagination.
Narrow-minded fellows 😉 will object Lovecraft is overrated, his narratives being too harmless and “failing to make them feel any horror or anxiety” – well that might the case nowadays.
